Common brake clues
Squealing
A high-pitched squeal can come from a wear indicator, dust, moisture, or a component that needs inspection.
Grinding
Grinding can mean friction material is gone and metal is contacting metal. Avoid driving when possible and call for advice.
Pulling or vibration
Pulling may involve a caliper, hose, tire, or suspension. Vibration during braking can involve rotor condition, but a full inspection matters.
Soft pedal
A pedal that feels low or spongy is a safety concern. Do not wait for it to become a complete loss of braking.
