Walk around the car
Look for low tires, cracks, bubbles, fresh leaks, broken lights, or loose trim. Check that your license plate and mirrors are secure.
Check the tires
Check pressure when the tires are cold using the driver's door label. Look at tread and make sure the spare, jack, and tire tools are present.
Open the hood
Check engine oil, coolant reservoir, brake fluid, and washer fluid. Do not open a hot coolant system.
Test visibility
Try headlights, brake lights, turn signals, wipers, and the defroster. Replace worn blades before heavy rain.
